thursday

today i had a walk in smith street and gertrude street. lots of nice cafes, galleries and shops including toolz. i love this store, so many nice things :) bought some bread from a little bakery and had something to eat at arcadia. pumpkin, feta, pine nut tart. also looked in australian galleries and some book stores. feeling good :)

sorry for not being here more lately. just feeling a bit low, stuck in feelings i dont want to be feeling. i did go and see an exhibition on friday. a brett whiteley retrospective here. it reminded me of art college. i used to visit the ngv and just stand in front of one of whiteley's paintings of lavender bay, they have a strange effect on me. this one is about two meters high and the blue is so deep, it wraps itself around you like a blanket. i could have stayed there all day. but after i left i felt so drained. art can have strange effects.

enjoying winter. reading, listening to music, doing some work. I went to a recital the other night to hear some Schoenberg and Brahms, it was so beautiful! i have been listening to some classical music on the radio too. i really like string music.

friday

taking photos for a new blog scarlet jones, a beautiful homewares store near me. the owner Lynn has asked me to do a blog for her two stores. the other is a fabric store patchwork on central park. so inspirational! i want to make a big quilt :) 

also went for tea and cake with my sister. the sky was so blue! i love holidays.

winter

Winter is here now. it's been raining almost everyday, with hail and frost in the morning. i love this time of year, staying at home, working, listening to music. but ive been feeling low, and im not sure why. i guess im worried about the future, but who isnt? anyway just trying to be gentle with myself and hopefully this feeling will pass. 

red and brown

I love winter walks in the cold. the last of the autumn leaves are falling and the trees are starting to look bare. im making some coloured leaves that might become a mobile. also embroidered leaves in a linen thread that looks golden on the paper. im having a nice time playing with paper, pencils and thread. drinking earl grey tea and eating sourdough fruit toast :)

finish, start again

All my work is in and ive been doing some drawing etc this week. just relaxing at home (its been a bit cold and rainy) 

and also thinking i'd like to have an exhibition some time. im not sure when or where, but its nice to think about it.
